‘Street Food’ on Netflix could be called ‘Soul Food’… not only a show that educates about the culture, this history and the people… not only a show that stimulates your taste buds and makes you want to travel to experience all of the food experiences but a show that inspires you with the stories of the people behind the street stalls… people that have not had a day off in years, elderly ladies in the 90’s sleeping only a few hours a night so they may continue to do what they love and support their families…
People with no ‘academic’ education, no master chef, no chef apprenticeship… but doing what they love, keeping it simple and becoming a success… the man that people come to see because he has turned his stall into a ‘show’ with his unique personality and banter… and he would be in his 80’s… recipes being passed down through generations…
And in every show through all their hardships they are so happy with their place in the world… content… no whinging and whining… for all the struggles and the hours they are working, they own their place in the world and make a choice in how they see their world. Inspiring, heart warming, soul nurturing…
The commentator said, ‘The people that sell the street food are heroes’… I think they are too.
If you are every in need of a quick perspective fix watch a show.
