My journey as an adult started when my family unit broke down and I was living on my own at 15 and starting my working career... little did I know that this would be the beginning of my education in the big school of life, and that this would be the foundation my speaking business would be built on.
After the tumultuous teenage years, at the age of 20, I was introduced to my first self leadership book and this started my journey of self-discovery, self-leadership and personal empowerment.
After travelling the world and having a successful career in the Hairdressing Industry, in Sales and Management and as an Educator I married and had my first son. Then I asked the questions - what do I really want my life to look like? What do I want to 'do' with my life and what do I have to do to get it? I reflected and discovered some of those answers and so with a whiteboard and a dream I started my speaking and training business.
I put all that I had experienced and read into action, I discovered my 'sprkle', I was passionate and committed to my dream. I studied other speakers and did lots of what they didn't do (I did not want to be like anybody else!). I also learnt from what they did do, and so I developed my own unique presentation style. I knocked on doors, I rang people, I persisted and believed and one client at a time over the next 10 years I built a business through repeat clients and word of mouth recommendations that would see me travel nationally and internationally and be recognised for my business achievements by the National Speakers Association.
During this time I would also have my second son. Because being authentic was always important to me, I needed to always 'walk my talk' in my own life and so it has always been critical for me to maintain a balance between success in all areas of my life and not just professionally. So during the growth of my business I continued to have a great balance, being able to be there for my family and also achieving financial success through my speaking business and my other passion, investing in real estate.
Little did I know that that my biggest test was to come and I would truly be challenged to walk my talk! Eight years into our marriage, when my husband was 41 he had a major stroke and this began a personal journey that would ultimately test everything that I have ever read and spoke about. It was as if life itself was saying to me 'you have been talking the talk and now it is time to walk the walk.' The challenges continued when our second son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I include this information not for your sympathy, everybody has a story, but to explain that my message is authentic and I have a very real journey to draw on. My message is powerful and relatable because I am an everyday person who has had the courage to discover my sprkle, to find who I am, to be who I am and to have the discipline to apply the basic fundamentals of self-leadership, client service and business building strategies, through good times and bad.
Through my presentations I share easy to relate to, real life stories and experiences and I have developed a style that is unique, powerful, engaging and comical. I will not only deliver an intellectual and informative presentation but I will challenge your emotions making you really feel the message, and as you know we can only work on what we feel.
No, I have not won a gold medal with a sporting achievement, I am not a household name, I have not written a book (yet) and I have not personally come back from a near death experience, but I am one of those handful of individuals that through the spoken word can inspire, motivate, entertain and deliver a message with an energy that stays with delegates long after they have heard the message! Thankyou, I would love to have the opportunity to spread my sprkle within your organisation and deliver on my promise!!
So, enjoy the site and hope to share some sprkle with you in the near future!
